Blockhead Beerworks is gearing up for our second location in the heart of downtown La Porte, and we’re looking for a rock-solid Prep Cook to join the opening crew.

You’ll start training at our original spot in Valparaiso and help us fire things up in La Porte when doors open.

Heads-up: Ideally, you're local to La Porte and cool with the Valpo commute for training.

You’re setting the entire kitchen up to win.

Your work impacts every dish that hits the window. Every service. Every guest experience. When prep is tight, the whole kitchen hums.

This is a team sport. You’ll work closely with line cooks and leadership to keep quality high and standards consistent.

• Prep proteins, sauces, veggies, and other ingredients to spec

• Follow recipes exactly (consistency = everything)

• Maintain a clean, organized prep station

• Label, date, and rotate product properly

• Communicate low inventory or issues before they become problems

• Help receive and properly store deliveries

• Assist with light line support when needed

• Keep food safety and sanitation standards locked in

• Complete assigned prep lists before service

• Kitchen or prep experience preferred (but we’ll train the right person)

• Basic knife skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Ability to work on your feet for extended periods

• Ability to lift 40+ lbs

• Food safety mindset
