Sr. Paralegal - Patent Litigation

This Senior Paralegal - Patent Litigation role works in collaboration with and in support of the firm’s strategic initiatives, under the supervision of attorneys, and performs a range of substantive cases, matters or entity-related duties. The role includes preparing drafts of legal and other documents and correspondence for attorney review, compiling, analyzing and summarizing information, and coordinating efforts between attorneys, clients, outside legal counsel, opposing legal counsel, other parties and outside vendors. This position can sit in Austin, Dallas, Houston, or Washington, DC with a hybrid work schedule. Responsibilities Support in all phases of patent litigation including discovery, trial, and appeal, and provide lead paralegal support at trials and hearings. Assist with preparation for depositions, witness interviews, hearings, trials, and arbitration, including pretrial motions, trial binders, trial exhibits, discovery requests and responses. Review, organize, and maintain document databases for case tracking and discovery, coordinating and managing large document collections and productions. Utilize legal software such as Relativity for eDiscovery and litigation technology, including data rooms, to assist with document reviews and productions and to prepare privilege logs. Support patent litigation, patent appeals, and contested proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). Mentor case assistants and junior paralegals; coordinate with attorneys in home office and across firm offices; demonstrate ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications Strong skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience handling substantive projects and cases under the direction of lawyers; in-depth knowledge of the practice area with the ability to work with little supervision. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Solid technical skills to set up, track and maintain matters; ability to identify interrelationships among cases, statutes, regulations, and other legal authorities. Ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage collaborations across offices; strong judgment and anticipation of attorneys’ needs. Education & Experience Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED. Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree and/or a Paralegal certificate; Paralegal Certificate preferred. Minimum Years of Experience: 5 years of Paralegal experience in a specific practice area of law. Preferred Experience: Patent Litigation, Relativity databases, ITC matters, Inter Partes Review (IPR), and trial experience. Work Environment & Requirements Physical Demands: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects; predominantly sedentary. Work Environment: Hybrid work arrangement possible, with remote and in-office components; coordination with the hiring manager or supervisor; may be modified in the firm’s discretion. The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $51.21 - $71.08 per hour, depending on geographic market location. Compensation may be affected by experience, skills, and qualifications.
