Department: The Bridge Time Type: Part time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Description: Summary: The position of the Café Kindness Ambassador includes coordinatingthe Birthday Treats program’s daily logistics, as well as assistingwith the Bridge Café operations as needed. Essential Functions: Facilitate birthday coupon redemptions during Bridge operatinghours. Management of presentation area, including but not limited to aphoto wall and social media presentation. Data collection and management of information pertaining toBirthday Treats program. Prepare and sell menu items by following recipes andpreparation techniques for all beverages. Maintain inventories by replenishing supplies. Communicate with student manager about the needs of the space,including but not limited to materials and support. Assist with events in space. Maintain a friendly work environment with staff. Ensure the space is clean and free from excess trash, as wellas keep the furniture organized and in proper formation. Deliver exemplary customer service to all students, staff,faculty, and visitors. Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume orunusual events to keep cafe operating smoothly and to set apositive example for coworkers and peers. Follow all procedures for cash handling and security to ensuresafety for all staff. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Part-time. 5 - 10 hours per week. Salary Range: $18.40 per hour. Required Education and Experience: Must be currently enrolled at American University with a validAU email account. Student must have an active Federal Work Study (FWS)award. Experience working discreetly with confidential and personalinformation. Successful candidates must be in good academic standing with acumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Must be able to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds. Flexibility to work days & nights 7:30 AM - 11:30 PM,Sunday – Friday, specifically Wednesdays, for a total of 5 - 10hours per week at The Bridge Cafe, Butler 2nd Level. Ability to work with diverse populations including students,staff, faculty, and visitors. It is recommended but not required that you have previouscustomer service and/or food service experience.
