Senior Tax Advisor

Randstad is currently assisting a professional services firm with a search for an experienced Enrolled Agent (EA ) or a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to manage an assigned portfolio of individual, corporate, and non-profit clients. This position delivers comprehensive tax, accounting, and strategic advisory services throughout the year.

The ideal candidate possesses deep technical expertise in federal and state tax compliance, financial reporting, and proactive tax strategy. This role requires a well-rounded EA or CPA who excels at preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, analyzing general ledgers, and building long-term, advisory-focused relationships with business owners and individual clients.

Compensation: $90,000 - $125,000 + Bonus + Paid Benefits

Location: On-Site

Responsibilities

• Return Preparation & Review: Previews and complete complex federal and state returns across multiple entity types.
• Strategic Advisory: Delivers year-round tax planning, structural consulting, and entity selection guidance.
• Tax Research & Representation: Research evolving tax legislation, identifies tax-saving strategies, and manages responses to IRS and state tax authority inquiries.
• Deadline Management: Monitors filing schedules, extension filings, estimated payment requirements, and multi-state compliance obligations.

Accounting & Financial Reporting

• General Ledger Review: Examines general ledgers, trial balances, reconciliations, depreciation schedules, shareholder/partner basis, officer loans, and equity accounts for accuracy.
• Financial Adjustments: Prepares and approves necessary adjusting and closing journal entries.
• Financial Statements: Reviews of financial statements for consistency, accuracy, and adherence to relevant accounting standards.
• Operations & Cash Flow Analysis: Evaluates client operational results, cash flows, and performance trends to provide practical management guidance.
• Data Integration: Reconciles bookkeeping data with tax reporting to resolve variances prior to filing.

Client Management & Team Leadership

• Portfolio Oversight: Serves as the primary client contact for an assigned client base, fostering long-term trust and year-round communication.
• Clear Communication: Translates complex accounting concepts and tax regulations into clear, actionable advice for non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

• Licensure: Active CPA or EA license in good standing.
• Experience: 4+ years of experience preparing and reviewing Forms 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 990, and 709.
• Advisory Skills: Proven track record offering proactive tax-planning and business advisory solutions beyond seasonal tax preparation.
• Technical & Soft Skills: Superior tax-research capabilities, analytical reasoning, high emotional intelligence, and strong written/verbal communication.
• Preferred Experience: Exposure to financial statement compilations or reviews, multi-state corporate structures, and complex high-net-worth individual returns is highly desirable.
