Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Ambulatory Care Nurse – Multispecialty – Huntington. In this role the nurse will support coordination, integration, communication, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practice and clinical policies and procedures. The nurse will participate in quality improvement activities, collect and analyze patient healthcare data, and collaborate with licensed providers to develop patient‑centered plans of care. The position includes comprehensive patient care such as medication administration, wound care, public health teaching, and symptom relief. Job Responsibilities Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests. Collect patient health history and record information in the electronic health record. Provide information, counseling, and education to patients and families regarding test results and treatment plans. Administer medications (including vaccinations, IV therapy, oxygen administration) and provide comprehensive wound care. Perform phone and in‑person patient triage for clinical concerns. Assess and monitor patient responses to treatments, procedures, and anesthesia. Consult with clinical supervisors and licensed providers to determine best treatment plans. Direct, supervise, and delegate to licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, and technicians to support patient flow and efficiency. Ensure clinical compliance with Patient Safety initiatives and reporting. Support key quality initiatives such as MIPS and Care Gap Management. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and promote collegial relationships. Provide emergency care in accordance with organizational policy. Delegate and oversee specific nursing interventions as designated by job description and license/certification. Engage in self‑assessment and participate in activities that promote professional growth and development. Act as a mentor to peers and colleagues and report professional misconduct appropriately. Execute medical regimens prescribed by licensed providers. Plan comprehensive care to meet patient needs, identify comorbidities, and coordinate with other health care providers. Collect and document patient clinical history and assessment data. Perform onsite testing (POC lab tests, EKG, specimen collection, risk screening). Perform procedures such as hot & cold applications, orthopedic appliance placement/removal, suture removal, urinary bladder irrigation, and ear irrigation. Apply and remove dressings, perform wound care, and assist with minor and major procedures. Assist with patient monitoring pre‑, intra‑, and post‑procedure, and facilitate medication refills. Administer IV therapy, including blood products, chemotherapy, and medications via peripheral or central venous devices. Maintain peripheral and central IV lines and manage complications in accordance with certification. Minimum Qualifications Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (highly preferred). Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing with at least one year of experience and a plan to earn a bachelor's degree required. Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in New York. BCLS certification. Emergency room or critical care nursing experience preferred. Fluent written and spoken English language skills. Physical stamina, manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities. Required Licenses Registered Nurse License – NYS Basic Life Support Certification Preferred Qualifications ACLS certification. Spoken mastery of a second language. Compensation NYU Langone Hospital‑Long Island provides a salary range of $117,977.99 – $117,978.00 annually for this role. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The range listed does not include bonuses, incentives, differential pay, or other compensation or benefits.
