Pay Rate: $27/hr + $1.50/hr Shift Differential
Schedule: 2nd Shift | 1:30 PM - 10:00 PM

We are seeking an experienced Production Machinist II to support precision machining and manufacturing operations in a fast-paced industrial environment. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining conventional and CNC machining equipment used to grind, mill, plane, shape, groove, cut, and profile precision parts and wheels to exact specifications.

The ideal candidate will possess strong machining knowledge, blueprint reading capabilities, precision measurement experience, and the ability to work independently while maintaining tight tolerances and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and tend conventional and computerized machining equipment
• Produce precision parts, wheels, and components according to blueprints, sketches, work orders, and specifications
• Perform grinding, milling, shaping, cutting, profiling, and machining operations
• Select and assemble tooling, fixtures, chucks, clamps, and machine attachments
• Operate automatic grinding/milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, and related equipment
• Utilize precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, comparators, plug gauges, indicators, probes, and protractors
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using trade mathematics, geometry, trigonometry, and algebra
• Inspect finished workpieces to ensure conformance with specifications and tight tolerances
• Troubleshoot setup and machining issues independently
• Perform self-inspections and maintain quality standards throughout machining operations
• May operate multiple machines simultaneously
• Set cutting and grinding specifications to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finishes
• Record production and inspection data as required

Knowledge & Technical Skills

• Knowledge of machining various materials including aluminum, stainless steel, low carbon steel, composite materials, ceramics, diamond products, and molded wheels
• Ability to independently select metal stock and determine machining layouts from blueprints and specifications
• Understanding of machining speeds, feeds, tooling, and setup requirements specific to different materials and products
• Ability to hold tight tolerances and maintain high-quality surface finishes
• Experience using machine shop inspection equipment including CMM equipment, electronic height gauges, and precision inspection tools
• Experience with DNC systems, conversational programming, or minor CNC programming adjustments preferred
• Ability to create or modify fixturing and determine machining sequences independently

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Previous machining experience required
• Technical school training, apprenticeship, or equivalent CNC machining experience preferred
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong understanding of machining procedures, tooling, and precision tolerances
• Knowledge of shop mathematics including geometry, trigonometry, and algebra
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Minimum of 1 year of related machining experience preferred to become proficient in all phases of the role

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, metal chips, dust, fumes, lubricants, and abrasive materials
• Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, and machine operation required
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
• Specific vision abilities required including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
• PPE including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, respirators, dust masks, and safety shoes may be required
• Overtime may be required
