Schedule: 1st shift. May train on 2nd shift.

Hours 6am-3:30pm + OT as business needs dictate.

This position is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating grinding equipment to manufacture large, complex, close-tolerance components used in steelmaking equipment.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with precision grinding operations, interpreting engineering drawings, performing detailed inspections, and maintaining tight tolerances on critical components. Candidates should be capable of working independently following a brief orientation period and possess a strong commitment to quality and safety.

What You'll Do:

• Set up and operate manual and CNC grinding machines.
• Program CNC grinding equipment using conversational and machine programming.
• Perform OD, ID, surface, cylindrical, and gear grinding operations.
• Hold tolerances as tight as .0001 inches on precision components.
• Read and interpret complex blueprints, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, and specialized inspection tools.
• Perform gear grinding operations, including tooth modifications and finished gear inspections.
• Work on large, complex components weighing more than 4,000 pounds.
• Troubleshoot machining and quality issues to ensure production efficiency.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Train and mentor less experienced machinists and operators.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Job Requirements

What You'll Bring:

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Technical School education preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of CNC and/or manual grinding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 3 + years' experience with precision grinding to extremely tight tolerances.
• 3 + years' knowledge of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
• Some Cylindrical Grinding experience

Wh at Sets You Apart:

• Ability to accurately use advanced measuring equipment.
• Experience machining large-scale industrial components preferred.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.
