Main Duties & Responsibilities

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Ability to check drawings or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.
2. Ability to selects, position and secure tool in tool holder (chuck, collet, or tool post).
3. Ability to position and secure work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.
4. Ability to move controls to position tool and work piece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
5. Ability to set up fixture or feeding device, start machine, and turn hand wheel to feed tool to work piece and vice versa, and engage feed.
6. Ability to turn valve handle to direct flow of coolant or cutting oil against tool and work piece.
7. Ability to observe operation of machine and verify conformance of machined work piece to specifications.
8. Ability to operate bench grinder to sharpen tools.
9. Ability to work as a team member in Acetylene or High Pressure Plant.
10. Willingness to be trained in other operations in the line and work at these positions when needed.
11. Willingness to work overtime when needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not normally exposed to weather conditions. However the production areas are often hot and noisy. The noise level in the work environment is high and ear protection is required.

Qualifications

Experience, Competencies and Education:

• Must possess an education or experience level that permits the employee to effectively communicate and perform duties, assignments and responsibilities of the job.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus Trade/Technical school certificate and 5-7 years CNC machine operation experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• General knowledge of manufacturing with an emphasis on CNC machining.
• Read tape measures, calipers, micrometers.
• Strong math and problem solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be highly detail oriented.
• Must be able to work effectively with little or no supervision.
• Ability to make decisions when identifying in-process problems. Ability to deal with a variety of job assignments.
