About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: 2 years of experience in ICU License: Required state license in hand Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: - Float required to medical/surgical unit - Patient ratio experience of 1:3 - Charting system experience with Epic Description: The position requires floating to the medical/surgical unit. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience. The patient population includes young adults to elderly individuals. Common patient diagnoses include ventilated patients, titratable drips, and substance abuse withdrawal. Experience with cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and GI systems is essential. The unit manages post-operative patients. Special procedures include A-lines, central lines, intubations, chest tubes, and management of open abdomens. Candidates should possess skills in arterial line management, blood product administration, and procedural sedation. Ventilator management and interpretation of arterial blood gases are required. Experience with infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions is necessary. Candidates must be proficient in starting and managing IVs, as well as administering continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade. Management of dysrhythmias and the ability to obtain a 12 lead EKG/ECG are essential. The position involves care of ventilated patients and fresh tracheostomy management. Experience in emergency medications and CVA/acute stroke management is preferred. Weekly patient ratios are 2:1 during days and nights. The unit features interdisciplinary support from various specialized teams. Working with a diverse patient population and complex medical cases is expected.
