Position Title: Director, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) 

Department:  Student Academic Success

Work Location: Remote or hybrid

Reports To:  Dean of Student Academic Success

FLSA Status:  Exempt, Full-time

Salary: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 Annually

Position Summary: 

NDNU seeks a highly motivated, innovative, and dedicated educator to serve as the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). Reporting to the Dean of Student Academic Success, the Director is responsible for providing visionary leadership and strategic direction to enhance teaching and learning experiences at NDNU. This role involves leading an instructional design team and collaborating with faculty, administrators, and staff to enhance course quality, promote effective teaching methodologies, and support faculty professional development initiatives.

Essential Functions include, but are limited to:

1. Direct the instructional design team and provide support and guidance in professional Canvas course development.

2. Build and maintain partnerships to promote collaboration and resource sharing.

3. Develop and implement a comprehensive vision and strategic plan for the CETL, aligning it with the institution's mission and goals.

4. Design and deliver faculty development programs, workshops, and seminars to enhance online teaching effectiveness.

5. Collaborate with administrators, instructors, and instructional designers to integrate innovative online pedagogical approaches, technology, and emerging trends into curriculum development.

6. Adopt and implement current evidence-based online teaching practices, assessment methods, and educational technologies.

7. Stay current and serve as a resource and consultant for faculty seeking guidance on online instructional design, assessment, and educational technology.

8. Collaborate with faculty and administrators to create online academic program assessments that meet accreditation requirements. 

9. Conduct needs assessments for training new faculty and staff in Canvas methodology.

10. Select and implement emerging technologies to continuously improve online learning environments.

11. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Master's or doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Instructional Design, Higher Education Administration).

• Demonstrated experience in leading online course design.

• Proficiency in Canvas instructional design.

• Strong understanding of pedagogical theories, assessment strategies, and emerging trends in teaching and learning.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with instructors, instructional designers, administrators, and staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

• Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage projects, and prioritize competing demands.

• Progressive experience in managing staff and resources.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Effective interpersonal and leadership skills to maintain trust with faculty, staff, and students.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

• Ability to work effectively with professionals in a culturally diverse academic environment.

• A commitment to teamwork and an ability to manage resources effectively.
