This position requires a strong and demonstrated background in hydraulic components and systems. Additional experience in pneumatic and electronic systems, as well as a solid understanding of aerospace components—particularly the ability to interpret and work from engineering schematics, P&IDs, and technical drawings—is essential.A deep understanding of fluid power principles, high-pressure hydraulic operations, and system-level integration is critical. Responsibilities may include assembling and testing hydraulic/pneumatic components, creating and updating P&IDs, and supporting engineers with component testing and automation development. You will also play a key role in training and assisting others in proper component repair, assembly, and testing methods. Additional duties include supporting engineers and technicians with work orders, technical documentation, troubleshooting deficient components, and maintaining clean, safe lab practices. Performing hydraulic, pneumatic, and cryogenic testing is required. Some light travel may be necessary to provide training and gather automation ideas from other locations. We seek people who are passionate about space and possess a strong desire to continuously learn and improve.Responsibilities:Precision assembling valves, check valves, servo valves, actuators, and other hydraulic/pneumatic componentsPerforming pressure testing in excess of 6,000 psiExecuting advanced hydraulic testing and tuning with a strong understanding of fluid power theory (CFPS/CFPT preferred)Setting hydraulic/pneumatic nullTesting with cryogen (LN2, GN2)Measuring test pressures, strokes, temperatures, flows, positions, and loadsQuickly identify various types of fittings and know their proper usesQuickly identify unsafe practices and make correctionsPrepare test setups for engineersOperate pressurized hydraulic/pneumatic flow test benches and portable test stationsRead and interpret schematics, P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), engineering drawings, work orders, and technical ordersInspect components for damage, hidden damage, and other latent flawsPerform continuity checks and inspections of componentsUse flowmeters, transducers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, pressure gauges, and other test devices to interpret the test results of a test articleHydraulic/pneumatic/mechanical troubleshootingAssembling and testing some components to oxygen-clean requirementsUse standard tooling and measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, surface plates, safety-wire and lock-wire tooling, seal installation tools, and other specialty assembly toolsWorking with production lines to facilitate better practices, identify bottlenecks/concerns, and implement automationStainless steel tube bending, flaring, and swagingWorking with pressures up to 15,000 psiWorking with charged vesselsAcceptance Test Procedures, Factory Acceptance Testing, Customer Acceptance TestingInstallation of Helicoils, seals, and O-ringsUnderstanding of AS-9100 requirements and auditsAbility to identify documentation errors and work with engineering to correct any issuesFamiliar with DAQ systems, National Instruments, LabVIEW, Dewesoft, PLCs, and other forms of automationQualifications:5+ years in a related fieldDevelopment Lab and Production Lab experienceHands-on experience developing and executing work instructionsStrong written and computer skillsDesired:8+ years in aircraft hydraulic/pneumatic or components labsAdvanced hydraulic diagnostics or fluid power certification courseworkBasic use of CADLabVIEW or PLC experienceUnderstanding of clean room environmentsUnderstanding of precision cleaningUnderstanding of oxygen-level cleaningFamiliarity with typical aerospace testing and quality processes (AS9100, FOD Control, Lean, 5S, etc.)Base Pay Range for:WA applicants is $24.74 - $34.63Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
