Role Description The Associate Real Estate Attorney will handle a range of real estate matters, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating purchase agreements, leases, loan documents, easements, and related contracts. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing title reviews, coordinating closings, preparing and reviewing closing documents, and advising clients on real estate transactions and risk mitigation. The role also involves conducting legal research, staying current on relevant Virginia and federal real estate laws, collaborating with senior attorneys and staff, and representing clients in real estate-related proceedings as needed. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Norfolk City County, VA, with regular interaction with clients, courts, and local agencies. Qualifications Strong real estate law knowledge, including title examination, real estate finance, and commercial and residential transactions. Proficiency in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, leases, loan documents, and other real estate instruments. Experience conducting legal research, analyzing statutes and case law, and providing clear, well-reasoned written opinions. Effective client communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with a focus on service and professionalism. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously. Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in Virginia (or eligibility for prompt admission). Prior experience in real estate, commercial transactions, or related practice areas is strongly preferred.
