Job Title Electric Utility Distribution Electrician Location Site 300, Tracy, California; may require work at Site 300. Job Summary Electric Utility Division position within the Infrastructure Maintenance & Utilities Department. Responsible for journey‑level electrical work, maintenance, operations, installation, repair, and commissioning of medium‑ and high‑voltage electric utility systems and equipment on 5kV, 15kV, and 115kV lines. Full‑time on‑site presence required. Responsibilities Perform journey‑level electrical work. Conduct maintenance, switching operations, installation, repair, replacement, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning on transformers, switches, power circuit breakers, metal‑clad switchgear line‑ups, manholes, cables, protective relays, metering circuits, control circuits, and other equipment used in electric power distribution. Work with other craft personnel and provide technical guidance. Provide effective and timely customer service to clients and team members. Prepare and deliver reports; complete preventative maintenance requests, deficiency reports, and work orders using a personal computer. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q‑level security clearance (U.S. citizenship required). High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program in the electrician trade or equivalent experience. Basic journey‑level skills, knowledge, and abilities in the electrician trade, including proficiency with all trade tools and operation at 1000V and above. Knowledge of maintaining, operating, installing, repairing, replacing, testing, troubleshooting, and/or commissioning transformers, switches, power circuit breakers, metal‑clad switchgear line‑ups, manholes, cables, protective relays, metering circuits, control circuits, and related equipment on 5kV, 15kV, or 115kV systems. Demonstrated customer service and communication skills for interacting with technical and administrative personnel at all levels. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic knowledge of personal computers and related software (e.g., email, Microsoft Word). Availability to work scheduled, on‑call, and emergency overtime. Valid California Class C Driver’s License. Desired Qualifications Experience pulling, splicing, and terminating 5kV and 15kV cable. Experience reading electrical diagrams, testing protective relays, and working from drawings. Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code and OSHA safety regulations. Compensation and Benefits Hourly Pay: $53.01 – $64.43. This position is under a Collective Bargaining Agreement and step structure; step placement is determined after qualifications are assessed during the interview process.
