As we work toward Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center activation caregivers have a unique opportunity to help shape and build a premier trauma program from the ground up. This is a chance to be part of something innovative, impactful, and foundational to the future of trauma care.The Trauma Nursing Floor offers a unique opportunity to lead a brand-new nursing unit that will become an integral part of Cleveland Clinic Main Campus' emerging trauma program. The unit will initially serve a medical-surgical patient population before transitioning to its long-term role as a dedicated Trauma Nursing Floor. This 50-bed inpatient unit, featuring semi-private rooms, will care for patients throughout the recovery phase.As the Nurse Manager, you will have the unique opportunity to build the unit from the ground up. From recruiting and selecting the nursing team to establishing the culture, workflows, and operational standards, you will shape how care is delivered from day one. Working alongside trauma physicians, nursing leaders, and interdisciplinary partners, you will help define the future care model and prepare the team for a successful transition to a dedicated trauma unit. This role is ideal for a leader who is energized by building teams, leading through change, and creating a culture of excellence. You'll have the opportunity to develop caregivers, influence a major organizational initiative, and leave a lasting impact on one of Cleveland Clinic's most significant clinical expansions. Rather than stepping into an established unit, you'll help create a destination for exceptional trauma nursing care and lead its evolution for years to come.A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Manage the operation and practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.Supervise caregivers and promote development.Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.Coordinate unit operations with other units/departments.Develop and monitor budgets, approve purchases and establish/revise inventory quotes.Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs.Evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes and develop strategic plans.Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN)Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)Three years of recent nursing clinical experience with at least one year of healthcare management experienceHigh degree of clinical expertise in specialty area managedDemonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problems solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skillsPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Master's Degree in NursingTwo years healthcare management experiencePhysical Requirements:Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye and hand coordination.Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing and walking.Requires corrective vision and hearing to normal range.Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.The policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
