Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful impact every day as a Life Skills Special Education Teacher in a supportive elementary setting in South Austin, TX. This contract opportunity focuses on leading a life skills classroom, serving a caseload of seven elementary-aged students and providing specialized instruction that fosters independence, growth, and academic achievement.
As a dedicated educator, you will bring your expertise and compassion to create a nurturing environment where students with diverse abilities can excel. The role operates Monday through Friday, with a total of 37.5 hours per week, offering a structured schedule ideal for those seeking consistency and purpose in their work.
Qualifications:
- Valid Texas Special Education Teaching License (TX SPED License) required
- Proven experience working in special education, preferably with elementary students
- Familiarity with life skills programming, curriculum adaptation, and individualized instruction
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with families, multidisciplinary teams, and school staff
- Passion for empowering students to reach their full potential
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Foster daily living and social skills within a supportive classroom environment
- Collaborate with therapists, aides, and support staff to provide consistent, integrated instruction
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and communicate updates with caregivers and colleagues
- Encourage a positive and inclusive classroom culture that prioritizes student well-being
