About the Role

The Company is in search of a Senior Vice President of Accounting to take on a pivotal role in the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full spectrum of accounting and financial reporting, including corporate, property-level, and family office. This executive will also serve as the primary internal liaison with the firm's external accounting firm on all tax matters. The role demands a technically strong, team-oriented leader with a strategic vision for the finance function, and a genuine motivation to progress to the CFO position within the company. Key responsibilities include directing the preparation of financial statements, ensuring GAAP compliance, producing management reporting packages, and overseeing the consolidation of multi-entity financial data. The SVP will also be involved in property accounting, family office and owner reporting, tax compliance, and will lead a high-performing accounting team. Candidates for the SVP of Accounting position at the company must be active CPAs or willing to reactivate their CPA license, with a BS in accounting or finance. A minimum of 12-15 years' progressive accounting experience is required, with a preference for those with previous public accounting training. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in private commercial real estate accounting, particularly with exposure to retail or mixed-use assets. Experience in managing a large team of accounting professionals, deep knowledge of GAAP financial reporting, and proficiency in real estate-specific accounting matters are essential. The role also requires a working knowledge of federal and state income tax compliance for real estate entities and high-net-worth individuals, with proficiency in MRI and/or Yardi being preferred. The SVP will be expected to have exceptional communication skills and the ability to present complex financial information clearly to a non-technical executive audience.
