Judiciary Clerk 3 (Finance Division) [REPOST]

If another position becomes available within five months of this recruitment’s closing date, the applicant pool from this posting may be used to fill additional vacancies. Salary The salary range for this position is $45,877.84 to $69,484.11 for Schedule A and $45,877.84 to $62,203.88 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to August 21, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals and Judiciary employees hired on or after August 21, 2014, are considered Schedule B. Remote Work The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule; this position may qualify for up to two days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate, you must install a multi‑factor authentication app on your phone or tablet and have high‑speed home internet access. Key Responsibilities Perform cash handling responsibilities Intake all court‑related fees, court‑ordered payments and revenues for the courts, including Bail, Child Support, Probation Fines & Restitution, Civil, Special Civil Part, General Equity, Law/Family filing fees, and other miscellaneous fees Verify records and documents for accuracy, completeness, and conformity with court rules and policies Operate cash register Prepare daily deposits and disbursements Perform daily closeout and reconciliation of cash register receipts Post batch receipts and collections into the automated finance sub‑systems and NJKIDS Modify or update cash transactions, records, or journals on judiciary information systems Answer questions posed by judges, managers, supervisors, coworkers, internal/external customers and complainants Other responsibilities as assigned Essential Functions & Physical Requirements Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. Qualifications Qualifications for External Candidates: One year of experience performing a variety of clerical and support services, including keyboarding (no minimum speed required) and one or more of the following: document or information processing, handling payments for fees, recording monies received, reconciling balances and/or scheduling meetings or appointments. Keyboarding: Ability to use a keyboard. No minimum speed required. BICAT Testing: Candidates selected to serve in a bilingual variant title must pass the New Jersey Civil Service Commission Bilingual Communicative Ability Test (BICAT) performance examination or provide proof of established bilingual proficiency with the Commission. Qualifications for Advancement Candidates: Open to Judiciary employees with an aggregate of one year of permanent service in the listed career titles. Eligibility is based on having achieved all competencies for advancement to Judiciary Clerk 3 as listed on the Career Progression Eligibility Form. The applicant is not required to take a New Jersey Civil Service Commission promotional examination. Qualifications for Lateral Reassignment Candidates: Open to Judiciary employees with an aggregate of one year of permanent status in the listed career titles. Additional Requirements Physical Ability: The applicant must be able to perform work requiring climbing, prolonged standing, stretching, bending and reaching. The selected candidate must be able to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing 30–50 pounds and, occasionally, materials up to 75 pounds. Driver’s License: Required only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary for essential duties. Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US under Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations. Special Note: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that includes fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information. Residency Law: In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14‑7, all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish and maintain a principal residence in New Jersey. An exemption may be requested by hardship or employer critical need.
