We are looking for an accomplished Senior Accountant to join a finance team in Ozaukee County, WI. This position is ideal for someone who is detail oriented and can manage complex accounting work, interpret financial results, and contribute to accurate reporting that supports business performance. Responsibilities:

• Record, examine, and finalize journal entries while ensuring general ledger activity is accurate and properly supported.

• Perform detailed reconciliations for balance sheet and bank accounts, researching discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.

• Contribute to monthly and annual close cycles by reviewing account activity, preparing supporting schedules, and addressing unexpected variances.

• Produce financial reports and statement packages that help leadership evaluate results and make informed decisions.

• Assist with accounts payable operations by validating invoices, assigning correct coding, coordinating payments, and following up on exceptions.

• Oversee state sales and use tax reporting, including timely filings, documentation retention, and compliance with applicable requirements.

• Maintain organized financial records and safeguard sensitive accounting information with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather financial data, verify transactions, and resolve accounting questions.

• Support audit and compliance efforts by preparing requested documentation and responding to internal or external review needs.

• Provide technical guidance to accounting support staff and contribute to special analysis, budgeting, expense tracking, and other finance projects as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• At least five years of progressive accounting experience in a business environment that requires strong attention to detail.
• Strong command of GAAP and solid experience working within the general ledger.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare journal entries, complete account reconciliations, and produce financial reports and statements.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, audit support, and sales and use tax compliance.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems, including experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail and sound judgment when handling confidential information.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; CPA, CPA eligibility, manufacturing or cost accounting, multi-entity experience, and e-commerce exposure are considered advantages.
