Sr Manager, Product Development

Senior Manager of Product Development role at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Pleasanton, California, leading the development of analytical products for pharmaceutical manufacturing. The position combines scientific leadership, team management, and hands-on laboratory work, guiding multifunctional teams through product development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of analytical products from concept through commercialization
- Manage, mentor, and develop multifunctional teams of scientists, engineers, and technicians
- Partner with Product Management, Operations, Quality, and Regulatory to advance programs through development milestones
- Oversee R&D processes, resource allocation, and laboratory operations for efficiency and compliance
- Identify and implement improvements to strengthen product development processes and R&D effectiveness
Requirements
- Advanced degree plus 6 years experience in molecular biology, cellular biology, biochemistry, biomedical science, or engineering
- Demonstrated leadership of multifunctional product development teams including scientists and engineers
- Experience developing products in regulated environments with knowledge of regulatory compliance and ISO standards
- Expertise in PCR, NGS, proteomics, or related pharmaceutical analytical technologies
- Strong hands-on laboratory skills and laboratory operations management experience
- Ability to lead effectively in matrix organizations and drive cross-functional collaboration
- Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in all development and laboratory activities
