We are looking for an experienced Controller to provide hands-on accounting leadership for a Contract engagement in Baltimore, Maryland. This position will support a time-sensitive need by bringing structure, oversight, and financial clarity across multiple entities in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working onsite, partnering closely with senior leadership, and guiding core accounting activities from daily operations through reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities:
• Direct accounting activities across multiple entities, ensuring accurate oversight of daily financial operations.
• Strengthen accounting workflows by developing practical policies, refining procedures, and reinforcing internal controls.
• Produce timely financial statements and management reports for both internal stakeholders and external parties.
• Coordinate audit preparation efforts and serve as a key accounting contact throughout review activities.
• Supervise the recording, reconciliation, and analysis of financial transactions across business units.
• Monitor cash position, maintain balance sheet integrity, and oversee critical disbursement activity such as deposits, wires, and payables.
• Deliver month-end reporting, performance analysis, and financial insights to senior leadership.
• Support compliance with tax, regulatory, and reporting obligations while helping stabilize the accounting function.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and mentoring accounting staff as business needs require.• 5+ years of accounting or controllership experience with strong ownership of month-end close and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop in a detail-focused accounting environment.
• Demonstrated background preparing for audits and supporting external review processes.
• Solid understanding of internal controls, accounting procedures, and balance sheet management.
• Experience overseeing cash flow, payables, and general accounting operations.
• Prior work in real estate, construction, or property management is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work onsite daily in Baltimore, Maryland and step into an urgent project with minimal ramp-up time.
