Job Title and Location Sonographer – Imaging Department Rochester General Hospital, 1425 Portland Ave, Rochester, NY 14621 Hours & Schedule 20 hours per week. Variable shifts: 7:45am - 4:15pm, 8:00am - 4:30pm, 9:00am - 5:30pm, and 4‑hour Saturday rotations. On‑call: None. Summary As a Sonographer, you play an important part in high quality imaging exams needed to deliver quality care to our patients. Performs or assists in the performance of vascular, abdominal, OB/GYN or neurovascular sonography exams. The primary objective is to obtain high quality images and maximize the efficiency of the radiologist or neurologist while providing exceptional patient care and maintaining a consistent level of quality. Responsibilities Perform abdominal, vascular, OB/GYN, and/or transcranial Doppler ultrasound scans. Produce ultrasound images and obtain all required measurements using various transducers and imaging techniques in compliance with procedure standards. Review patient chart for history, valid orders, and clinical appropriateness. Document scan performance and complete preliminary reporting. Call preliminary reports to doctor’s offices or nursing floors as requested by the radiologist. Assist physicians with invasive procedures under sonographic guidance. Clean, stock, and prepare rooms daily. Attend hospital and departmental meetings and in‑services. Provide high quality patient care with exceptional service and compassion. Attend continuing education classes (CME) to maintain registry. Act as a resource to ultrasound students by demonstrating and explaining procedures; serve as preceptor for new personnel orientation. Perform other duties as assigned. Neurology Department Responsibilities Maintain or prepare for RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) certification. Perform diagnostic ultrasound tests including carotid and transcranial Doppler exams. Report completion of exams to reading neurologist and alert reading as required. Maintain IAC (Intersocietal Accreditation Commission) standards. Radiology Lead Responsibilities Scheduling, timekeeping, ACR/regulatory credentials. Hiring, onboarding/training, disciplinary measures and day‑to‑day operations. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Effective June1,2023: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate or Bachelor’s Degree in Ultrasound required for all new hires. New graduates: official transcript from an accredited school or letter from registrar confirming program completion will be accepted upon graduation; primary source education verification required within 90 days of start date. Licensure/Certification: For ACR‑accredited sites, RDMS certification required within 6 months of graduation from a CAAHEP‑accredited program or within 18 months of graduation from a non‑accredited program. For neurovascular & vascular sites, RDMS is not required. Physical Requirements Medium work, exerting 20‑50 pounds of force occasionally; 10‑25 pounds frequently; >10 pounds constantly to move objects. Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. Refer to department‑specific care program requirements for further specifications on experience, education, and continuing education. Any reported physical requirements will be considered for accommodations. Pay Range $35.00 - $47.00 per hour. Base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full‑time applicant. Pay may be modified in the future and may include additional components.
