Operations Director

Position Overview:The Operations Director in Omaha, NE is accountable for the secure, efficient, and profitable operation of various power generation facilities. This role manages operations, maintenance, engineering, and personnel while ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and contractual standards. The Director formulates operational strategies, fosters continual enhancement, evaluates performance benchmarks, and aids in development and procurement efforts through O&M expertise.Responsibility Range:This role demands advanced independent discernment and decision-making within a complex operational and regulatory atmosphere, under the general supervision of the Senior Vice President of Operations. The position involves engagement with internal executives and external stakeholders, such as regulators, governmental bodies, and third-party collaborators.Key Job Functions:Enhance plant safety, reliability, efficiency, and profitability through industry-leading practices.Supervise, cultivate, and oversee plant personnel to ensure compliance with facility, corporate, and industrial norms.Manage day-to-day plant operations to achieve or surpass production and performance goals.Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, regulatory, and contractual obligations, including permits and reporting requirements.Handle recruitment, performance evaluation, compensation procedures, and personnel policies in accordance with company guidelines and applicable laws.Establish, oversee, and control plant budgets, forecasts, and expenses in alignment with long-term maintenance strategies.Administer and ensure compliance with O&M Contracts, PPAs, LTSA contracts, and utility agreements.Schedule and oversee plant shutdowns to optimize production, expenses, and schedule achievement.Offer practical operational and technical support when necessary, including diagnosing equipment problems and coordinating external resources.Conduct risk evaluations and utilize market and industry knowledge to influence operational choices.Spearhead system enhancements, adjustments, and operational enhancements.Manage transitions pertaining to asset acquisitions, divestitures, or modifications in O&M providers.Serve as a mediator with regulatory bodies and the local populace, fostering favorable relationships and community involvement.Conclude special projects as designated and ensure consistent, reliable attendance.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (preferred)10+ years of experience in power generation operations and/or maintenance, with substantial familiarity with gas turbine facilitiesDesirable Qualifications:MBA or extensive experience in the business and commercial aspects of independent power producersProven expertise in environmental compliance, budgeting and cost management, contract oversight, and organizational growthDemonstrated capability to create innovative resolutions to technical, operational, and business challengesStrong leadership, communication, and presentation abilities, with the skill to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
