Direct Support Professional (DSP) – In-Home & Community Support Location: Beaverton, OR Hours: Approximately 30-40 hours per week, with the potential to grow to 40 hours per week and Overtime Starting Pay: $23.00 per hour (DOE) Benefits Paid Time Off (PTO) Overtime opportunities Paid DSP certification and onboarding training Opportunities for advancement within the organization Position Overview The Program for Intellectual Empowerment (PIE) is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support two individuals with disabilities in both home and community-based settings. This position is divided between: Supporting a 12‑year‑old client in the home and community setting in Hillsboro Supporting an 8‑year‑old client in the home and community setting in Hillsboro Supporting (2) young adults client within our educational and community‑based program with behavioral challenges in Wilsonville and Beaverton Essential Responsibilities Implement individualized goals and support plans. Assist clients with communication, social interaction, problem‑solving, and self‑advocacy skills. Support participation in community activities, recreation, volunteer opportunities, and vocational experiences. Assist clients with daily living skills, including organization, meal preparation, hygiene, and personal care when needed. Provide transportation to community activities and appointments as assigned. Maintain accurate daily documentation, data collection, and progress notes. Follow ISP goals, behavior support plans, safety plans, and company policies. Communicate professionally with families, supervisors, and team members. Maintain client confidentiality and uphold individual rights at all times. Utilize positive behavior supports and de‑escalation strategies when needed. Support clients in developing independence, community inclusion, and meaningful life skills. Personal Care Responsibilities Must be willing and able to assist clients with personal care needs, including toileting, hygiene support, changing briefs/diapers, and cleaning up after accidents when necessary. While these tasks may not occur daily, they are an essential function of the position and must be performed respectfully, professionally, and with dignity for the individual receiving support. Follow infection control procedures and maintain a clean and safe environment for all participants. Candidates who do not already possess Oregon DSP certifications and required ODHS‑DD training will receive paid onboarding and DSP certification training. Required DSP training is compensated at $18.00 per hour and must be completed successfully before working independently with clients. Ongoing professional development and continuing education opportunities are provided throughout employment. Qualifications Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to pass required background checks. Ability to lift, bend, stand, walk, and actively participate in community activities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience supporting individuals with disabilities preferred but not required. Experience working with individuals who exhibit behavioral challenges, or willingness to learn and confidently implement behavior support strategies. Ability to remain calm, flexible, patient, and professional in a variety of situations. Commitment to treating all individuals with dignity, respect, and compassion.
