Position Summary The Shift Supervisor in our Services division is responsible for operating and maintaining the baggage handling system at St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL). The role involves providing leadership, training support, and direction to the onsite team to achieve safety, quality, and productivity while meeting customer service goals. Responsibilities Exercise safe working practices at all times. Inspect, diagnose, and perform preventive maintenance on complex mechanical/electrical and mechanical systems. Communicate with parties on work performed and present status of specialty systems. Interpret engineering drawings and system layout for operation. Attend to faults, alarms, and warnings; monitor reporting through CMMS, generate and close work orders. React to messages from the Control Room, manager and Operations Teams regarding preventive or corrective maintenance. Perform monthly CM/PM, including inspection, adjustment, cleaning, replacement parts as needed. Supervise employees assigned to the team, ensuring quality of maintenance per contract. Manage system issues on‑site with maintenance team, manager, and customer. Set up and maintain work schedules to ensure fulfillment of contract deliverables. Assist manager on daily operations; act as manager in his absence. Ensure proper levels of supplies (spare parts, tools, office supplies, PPE) and manage vendor interactions. Initiate process improvements for continuous improvement of maintenance performance. Monitor housekeeping compliance in all areas. Identify issues requiring extra attention and solve problems that disturb daily operation. Train less experienced employees. Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED equivalent. 5+ years of technical experience in an industrial environment. Experience with mechanical, electrical, and controls (PLC, PC) systems. 2+ years as a Lead Technician. Valid Driver’s License. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 2 years Material Handling Experience. Minimum of 1 year CMMS Experience. Adaptability, strong leadership, troubleshooting, problem solving. Strong verbal and written communication. Proactive work ethic and initiative, desire to grow and develop. Proficiency with computers and equipment. Ability to solve problems under pressure. Knowledge of OSHA and safety practices. Position Type / Expected Hours of Work Full‑time position; 24/7 operation; 3 shifts; overtime, weekend and holiday work are common. Work Environment & Physical Demands The work occurs in secured baggage handling areas, repair stations, or on airfields. Employees must follow strict deadlines, communicate over radio, bend, stoop, reach from ladders and scaffolds, lift items over 50 pounds, work with greasy parts and tools, and may be exposed to high noise, vibration, vehicular traffic, moving mechanical parts, and weather.
