Starting Date: Aug 4, 2026 Job Description REPORTS TO: Principal SUPERVISES: May coordinate and direct the activities of teacher assistants. PURPOSE: To plan, organize and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Management of Instructional Time: Prepare materials and supplies before each lesson; start class quickly; keep students on task; maintain high time‑on‑task. Management of Student Behavior: Establish and enforce rules for participation, verbal, movement; monitor behavior; address inappropriate behavior promptly and respectfully. Instructional Presentation: Review previous material; introduce objectives; deliver clear, engaging instruction; provide examples; ask appropriate questions; pace lessons effectively; transition smoothly; summarize main points. Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance: Set clear standards; circulate during work; use oral, written, and other products to check progress; ask clear questions one at a time. Instructional Feedback: Provide timely feedback on in‑class and out‑of‑class work; affirm correct responses; probe or give clues for incorrect ones. Facilitating Instruction: Use compatible instructional plans; incorporate diagnostic data; maintain accurate records; align objectives, strategies, assessments with student needs; utilize resources. Interacting Within the Educational Environment: Treat all students fairly; collaborate with students, coworkers, parents, and community. Performing Non‑Instructional Duties: Execute assigned non‑instructional tasks; follow laws, policies, and professional development plans. Additional Job Functions: Perform other related work as required. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Degree in education or a related area that qualifies for licensure by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Physical requirements: use classroom equipment; lift, carry, push, pull objects with negligible force; light work movement. Data Conception: compare/judge functional characteristics. Interpersonal Communication: convey information; receive instructions. Language Ability: read and prepare correspondence, reports, forms. Intelligence: apply logical or scientific thinking, interpret technical instructions, handle variables. Verbal Aptitude: deliver information, explain procedures, follow instructions, communicate in professional terminology. Numerical Aptitude: use formulas, arithmetic, percentages, basic statistics. Form/Spatial Aptitude: inspect dimensions. Motor Coordination: coordinate hands and eyes with office equipment. Manual Dexterity: handle tools and equipment. Color Discrimination: differentiate colors and shades. Interpersonal Temperament: adapt under stress, handle emergencies. Physical Communication: talk and hear via telephone. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Monitor safety and well‑being of students, especially in inclusive activities. Motivate students. Maintain clean and orderly environment; perform clerical duties. Maintain order and discipline. Operate office machines; maintain files and records. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Establish effective working relationships as needed.
