Case Coordinator

The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is seeking an experienced Case Coordinator for the MDT Department .
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Case Coordinator is responsible for reading statewide CPS (child protective services) intakes and facilitating collaborative relationships with partner and community organizations and for leading efforts to ensure a coordinated and timely response to child abuse investigations.
ABOUT DCAC: The mission of the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC is a non-profit organization and the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse
cases in Dallas County. We reduce the victimization of the child, remove barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhance criminal prosecution with our distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to these complex and severe cases, all at no cost to our clients. Each year, DCAC serves over 13,000 children and their non-offending family members.

for our expertise in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of child abuse cases; cutting edge clinical services and programs for the victims and their non-offending family members; and our community and professional training programs. Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Receives and reviews statewide intake referrals of abuse and neglect daily and as assigned and confirms that intakes meet the coordination criteria.
- Contacts the investigative partners, i.e., CPI (Child Protection Investigation) and (LE) Law Enforcement to ensure connections are made with the goal of securing a forensic interview for the client.
- Responsible for ongoing, regular contact with partners, which includes CPI and LE, to ensure the partners are connected and working towards obtaining the forensic interview for the client.
- Builds relationships with investigative agencies and associated service providers via phone, email or in-person on a monthly basis.
- Ensures all identified cases meeting the criteria are entered into the Apricot 360 client database in an accurate and timely manner.
- Receives and responds to crisis calls (on a rotating basis) from referral services and initiates protocol response for the CST (child sex trafficking) HRY (high risk youth) cases.
- Routinely communicates with DCAC programs and supports a cohesive and collaborative client experience by offering case coordination efforts and support.
- Attends MDT staffings on and off-site as requested.
- Responsible for routing the statewide intake referrals of abuse or neglect which entails determining if the youth's case meets the specified criteria for the Multi-disciplinary Team collaborative approach.
- Works a rotating, on-call schedule, including nights and weekends for CST/HRY cases.
- Follows MDT department policies and procedures.
- Attends and participates at DCAC's annual Crimes Against Children conference in the capacity of a volunteer or participant to attend classes.
- Participates and actively attends supervisory meetings and team meetings.
- Attends and participates in agency staff meetings.
- Participates in special events for children and families.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and experience: bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice or similar and at least one (1) year of experience in a similar role working at a child protective agency or child advocacy center OR an equivalent and combined knowledge, experience and skills of five (5) years working in a child advocacy center, child protection agency, or similar in lieu of the education requirements.
Continuing Education:
- Completes Interpretation and Translation Training for DCAC Staff (required for bilingual (English/Spanish) staff.
- Completes MDT (multi-disciplinary team) training through CACTX.
- Attends courses relating to child abuse and sex-trafficking as identified on an ongoing basis.
- Completes agency-related compliance courses in a timely manner.
Required Software Experience: MSOffice Outlook, SharePoint and database skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of child development and family dynamics; knowledge of sexual abuse dynamics as it relates to victims and perpetrators.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse community of stakeholders including law enforcement, CPS, the Dallas Juvenile DA's Office, Children's Health, DCAC staff, and clients/families.
- Effective in encouraging participation from stakeholders in the MDT (multi-disciplinary team) model and coordinating a joint response to concerns of abuse/neglect/child sex trafficking and high-risk behavior.
- Ability to manage the exposure to graphic details of abuse/neglect/Sex Trafficking/child fatalities.
- Ability to communicate clearly in high stakes situations with multiple partners/stakeholders for an effective plan that addresses the need of the minor who may be in crisis.
- Ability to follow all investigative protocol procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain professionally challenging achievement goals and exerting effort toward mastering tasks and a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
- Ability to attend off-site meetings, when required.
- Ability to work with all levels of employees, board members, partners, and community.
- Ability to work a rotating, on-call schedule.
Work Location: All work must be conducted in the office due to client confidentiality; hybrid work environment of working two (2) days remotely may be requested and evaluated after six (6) months of employment with DCAC.
Mental and Physical Abilities: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs.).
Working Conditions: Work may be performed but is not limited to an office environment.
