Job Type/Status: Full Time (35 hours per week)

Salary Range: $60,000 annually

Position Summary

The Domestic Violence Housing Navigator is a full-time position responsible for overseeing the management of the Domestic Violence Housing Database and coordinating housing efforts from those fleeing domestic violence and human trafficking.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide individualized domestic violence assessment and coordinate housing services for survivors of domestic violence.
• Implement housing best practice standards.
• Assess and assist survivors in need of rental and relocation assistance.

• Provide direct services including intakes, case management, service plans, and crisis intervention to survivors of domestic violence in need of housing resources. Provide ongoing information and advocacy to assist survivors obtain safe and sustainable housing resources.
• Complete housing assessment for survivors in need of rental and relocation assistance. Make recommendations for approval based on established eligibility guidelines. Keep appropriate records.
• Attend housing meetings and serve as the agency's liaison for housing community partners and local COC.
• Ongoing individualized safety planning. Inform clients of financial opportunities such as Section 8, SSI, VCCO, Rapidly Rehousing, EA, or other available funds and assist in completion of applications.
• Keep up with best practice standards and implement program practices. Maintain records and keep documentation as required by policies and procedures.
• Understand HUD, DFD, VAWA requirements, and implications for victims of domestic violence.
• Understand welfare system and FVO program, and educate clients of their options.
• Complete VCCO applications and other financial assistance applications.
• Maintain client files and document all contacts according to the agency's documentation policy/procedure. Clearly document intakes, exits, incidents, observations, notes, service provisions, and statistics.
• Submit statistic reports as required.
• Build relationships with landlord to support and increase participation
• Build relationship with coordinated entry process to ensure that survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking have equal access to housing services.
• Assist with securing funding for individuals moving into housing.
• Be relationship focused. Facilitate and maintain strategic alliances/partnerships with public, private, and non-profit organizations to develop, integrate, and implement program priorities.
• Stay current with changes in the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) department's manuals and technical guides.
• Document all engagements ensuring files meet the grant requirement and audits. Any duty related to the success of the individuals/families and program.
• Provide individualized domestic violence assessment and coordinate housing services for survivors of domestic violence.
• Implement housing best practice standards.
• Assess and assist survivors in need of rental and relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is preferred or minimum two-year experience working with victims of domestic violence.
• Complete the domestic violence/sexual violence state mandated training.
• Excellent crisis intervention and case management skills required
• Proficiency using computers, including MS Office, the Internet, and previous experience working in client information databases.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong relationship and team-building skills.
• Proven critical thinking skills.
• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Capable of working effectively with limited supervision.
• Able to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
