Leader in Training (LIT) and Floor Leader Primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement: “To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The LIT and Floor Leader performs a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by store management— cashiering, merchandise display, pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities. The role works directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new teammates, and provide leadership. Compensation & Benefits Pay Range $15.16 - $18 per hour. The range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job‑related factors. For sales positions, Buckle pays a base rate plus commission on sales; the range listed is the estimated base rate plus commission for teammates in this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sales Generation and Guest Service Greet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude, consistently prepared to provide legendary service. Answer questions regarding store and merchandise. Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on guest needs and desires. Anticipate and fulfill guest’s needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe experience. Demonstrate product utilizing product knowledge and sales education, consistently sharing knowledge and education with teammates. Maintain and share knowledge of current sales and promotions, payment and exchange policies, and security practices. Remain consistent on personal sales, seeking opportunities to impact teammates’ presentations with the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG). Achieve personal sales‑per‑hour, average sales and total net sales goals set by store management. Provide legendary service throughout the store in the front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area. Be knowledgeable of all exchange and return procedures for guests and use these as showmanship opportunities. Fill out and effectively use the SPG daily to accomplish goals. Meet or exceed performance standards in all Buckle business builders and guest loyalty including fit appointments, Buckle credit card and guest connect. Investigate and navigate ways to expand guest selection through inventory manager, advanced product search, iPad apps, etc. Maintain and build positive guest relationships to develop a client‑based business. Lead by example with high level of showmanship, excellent customer service and attentiveness. Recognize and communicate guest levels with the team. Ask business‑driven and showmanship questions often to manager, team leaders and teammates. Coachable—allow manager to educate in sales presentation. Consistently perform leadership actions and maintain high standards, whether or not the manager is present. Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development Recognize recruiting opportunities using Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals and teammate recommend. Develop skills and assist in leading, directing, motivating and educating new teammates to meet Buckle’s standards on shifts: Accountability, shift orientation, loss prevention and sales presentation. Maintain a positive attitude, creating a positive floor culture. Demonstrate personal dress code to encourage and coach teammates and team leaders. Participate effectively in daily setup, training, impacting and reviewing while utilizing the Performance Tracker. Motivate teammates to initiate and complete daily tasks. Demonstrate passion to coach and influence denim showmanship and fit card results through teammates and guests. Create and develop results in your department, balancing all DM actions and completing mid‑week check‑ins. Demonstrate leadership actions during segment: Awareness of guests in the store and ensure they are being helped. Demonstrate how to involve guests with product. Be vocal and continuously update fellow leaders and teammates. Responsible for getting guest names. Understanding and working guys side/gals side to benefit both teammates and guests. Visual Merchandise Management Own and influence product through zone ownership: Product knowledge, placement, passion, preference. Weekly checklist. Life cycle of product. Track results. Assign zones and projects to teammates daily with specific learning goals. Confirm teammates follow visual standards and weekly visual checklist with urgency and accountability. Execute and demonstrate new tools and videos applied to zone ownership. Recognize merchandising opportunities from freight to floor, and recommend solutions to store manager. Give informative store tours. Ensure sales floor is sized correctly and new freight displayed appropriately. Operations Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and key holiday dates. Utilize planner, including opening and closing checklists. Watch for security risks and thefts, and know prevention or handling procedures. Follow loss prevention guidelines, daily bag and purse checks. Execute and teach all point‑of‑sale (POS) procedures. Handle corporate calls appropriately. Know guidelines for returns and exchanges. Maintain positive attitude with challenging guest or teammate situations. Execute all payment, exchange and loss prevention policies. Navigate all tools on the home page. Provide guidance and feedback to all non‑sales positions. Cover shifts when needed and complete scheduled shifts. Provide feedback to store manager and leadership on merchandise handling concerns. Communicate policy violations and concerns to appropriate management confidentially. Keep store clean, organized, and shoppable, fulfilling Buckle’s mission. Adhere to Buckle’s Code of Ethics and all policies, procedures, handbooks. Supervisory and Leadership Comfortable giving and receiving feedback from peers and management. Supportive of leadership. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related retail experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Physical Demands The role requires standing, walking, using hands to reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. Occasional sitting. Lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Regularly works in a retail store setting. Typical noise level: moderate.
