Your Role as an ER DVM As a vital member of our Emergency team, you’ll play a hands‑on role in delivering urgent and life‑saving care to patients while collaborating closely with our specialty services to develop comprehensive, individualized treatment plans. This position is ideal for a compassionate, highly skilled, and curious individual who thrives in fast‑paced, collaborative environments and wants to make a difference every single day. Diagnose and treat urgent, emergent, and critically ill patients with compassion and efficiency. Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with Specialty DVMs to provide comprehensive patient care. Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment options, prognoses, and associated financial considerations to clients. Educate clients and team members on medical conditions, treatment plans, and best practices in emergency medicine. Partner with medical teams, client service representatives, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care and an exceptional client experience. Foster a collaborative and supportive hospital culture through strong communication, teamwork, and leadership. Contribute to operational excellence by helping streamline workflows and continuously elevate the quality of patient care. Requirements Required Licenses and Certificates: Active Colorado Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) license Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) DEA license AVMA PLIT professional liability insurance Required Experience: 1+ year experience in veterinary emergency care Time management and organization Confidence in working independently when needed and completing strict deadlines Preferred Internship training or 3+ years of veterinary emergency medicine experience RECOVER certification Experience managing inpatient cases Experience with surgery and endoscopy Schedule Full‑Time ER DVM Schedule 12 shifts per four‑week rotation (approximately 156 shifts annually). Typical schedule: A rotating schedule consisting of day, swing, and overnight shifts based on hospital needs. Shifts may include weekends, holidays, and on‑call coverage as needed. Part‑Time ER DVM Schedule 6 shifts per four‑week rotation (approximately 78 shifts annually). Typical schedule: A rotating schedule consisting of day, swing, and overnight shifts based on hospital needs. Shifts may include weekends, holidays, and on‑call coverage as needed. Work Environment & Physical Demands Lift up to 50 lbs frequently. Kneel, stoop, crouch, and be on your feet for long periods. Operate medical and office equipment. Work around biological hazards and cleaning agents. Communicate clearly in noisy environments.
