Jail Clinician

The Jail Clinician provides comprehensive mental health services within a correctional setting. This role supports inmates and correctional staff by conducting mental health assessments, intervening in crisis situations, and assisting with clinical decision-making related to level-of-care placement, including hospitalization. The clinician plays a key role in treatment planning, stabilization, and re‑entry preparation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide mental health assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and clinical recommendations for incarcerated individuals Intervene in mental health crisis situations and collaborate with correctional staff to ensure safety and appropriate care Assist in determining level-of-care placement, including referrals for psychiatric hospitalization when clinically indicated Deliver individual counseling and brief therapeutic interventions Provide case management services, including coordination with internal and external providers Participate in re‑entry planning to support continuity of care upon release Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with agency, state, and correctional standards Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including correctional staff, medical providers, and community partners Qualifications LSW/LPC required Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related behavioral health field Ability to work effectively in a correctional environment Strong assessment, crisis intervention, and clinical decision‑making skills Prior experience working in corrections, community mental health, or crisis settings is a plus Knowledge of re‑entry planning and community-based mental health resources is a plus As a healthcare provider, Southeast Healthcare is a non‑smoking employer.
