Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Telemetry unit position requiring 2 years of experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Work on a Medical-Surgical unit with telemetry capabilities focused on vascular disease diagnoses
• Unit consists of 12 private and 2 semi-private rooms with a maximum census of 16 patients
• Patient population ranges from young adults through geriatrics
• May also admit other medical-surgical and telemetry overflow patients
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active TX or Compact RN license required in hand at time of submittal
• Current BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, and peripheral line care
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management
• Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medications
• Respiratory care skills including HFNC, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with rapid response/code team protocols
• Genitourinary/renal skills including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care preferred
• Wound care/wound vac experience

Additional Information

• Complete core onboarding items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing
• Onsite orientation modules required, averaging 4-6 hours for RNs
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted for this position
• Candidates residing in specific nearby counties (Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris) are not accepted
• Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of application
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved
• RTO is not permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
