Real Estate Development Manager

Secaucus, NJ – On-site

$125K - $175K (DOE)

Overview

We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and responsible Real Estate Development Manager to own and manage the development and pre-construction process for a growing real estate organization. This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring projects continue moving efficiently from initial project setup through construction.

The ideal candidate has relevant real estate development, construction, project management, or related experience strongly preferred , is highly organized and detail-oriented, and can independently identify what needs to happen next and take ownership of getting it done. You will serve as a central point of coordination between ownership, general contractors, architects, engineers, insurance brokers, lenders, and other project professionals, ensuring timelines, approvals, documentation, funding draws, and other project requirements are handled properly and nothing falls through the cracks.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the development and pre-construction process from initial project setup through construction
• Oversee project planning, timelines, milestones, budgets, and key deliverables
• Manage permitting and approvals, ensuring required documentation, contracts, and approvals are completed on schedule
• Oversee insurance requirements, including applications, binding, certificates, renewals, and broker coordination
• Coordinate closely with general contractors to ensure they receive the information, decisions, and documentation needed to keep projects moving
• Oversee and coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, and other project professionals, tracking deliverables and outstanding items
• Maintain visibility into the status of each project and proactively identify delays, missing items, or issues requiring escalation
• Establish and manage project timelines, checklists, budgets, reporting, and development files
• Manage construction funding draws with banks and lenders, including documentation, submissions, approvals, and draw timelines
• Coordinate with lenders and mortgage brokers to ensure required documents, financial information, and project reports are provided accurately and on time
• Coordinate with ownership on key project decisions, issues, budgets, and priorities
• Hold internal and external parties accountable for deadlines and deliverables
• Ensure each project progresses efficiently from one stage to the next throughout the development and construction process

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in real estate development, construction, project management, or a related field strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of real estate development, construction, and pre-construction processes
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
• Strong ability to manage multiple projects, professionals, deadlines, and moving parts simultaneously
• Proactive and self-directed, with the ability to identify what needs to happen next and drive it forward
• Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and follow-through skills
• Comfortable taking ownership and accountability for project progress and deliverables
• Ability to see the big picture while maintaining control over the details and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks
