Description:
Medical coding in an acute care setting.
Proficient computer skills are required, including MS Word, Excel, ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, and Encoder.
Knowledge of coding guidelines, payor guidelines, and federal billing guidelines is essential.
Understanding of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes is necessary.
Ability to research coding-related issues is vital.
Competence in coder training is expected.
Experience in outpatient and emergency department coding is required.
Candidates should be certified with strong experience.
Ability to work with minimal training is important.
