Third Space is a virtual mental health practice built specifically for Medicaid patients. We’re building the operational infrastructure required to make high-quality behavioral healthcare accessible to populations the traditional system routinely leaves behind.

• You’ll use your clinical expertise in a different way. This is an opportunity for an experienced clinician to step away from a traditional caseload and apply their judgment across hundreds of hiring decisions that influence the care we deliver at scale.

About the Role

As our Clinical Interviewer, you will be the primary clinical evaluator for providers joining Third Space.

Our Clinical Talent Recruiters own sourcing, initial screening, and candidate management. Once candidates reach the clinical stage, you'll take over, conducting structured interviews with behavioral health clinicians across a range of disciplines and experience levels. You’ll use your clinical judgment to assess candidates’ competence, decision-making, communication, cultural responsiveness, and alignment with the clinical standards, operating values, and care model we expect from Third Space providers.

This is not a sourcing or traditional recruiting position, and you will not carry a patient caseload. Your job is to become exceptionally good at evaluating clinicians.

You'll work closely with our Clinical Director and Talent team to continuously strengthen how Third Space assesses clinical talent as we scale.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct high-volume, structured clinical interviews with behavioral health clinician candidates.

• Assess candidates' clinical reasoning, diagnostic approach, treatment planning, risk assessment, ethical judgment, communication, cultural responsiveness, and approach to patient care.

• Use case-based and scenario-based questions to understand how candidates apply their clinical knowledge in real situations.

• Evaluate candidates against standardized role-specific scorecards and make clear, evidence-based hiring recommendations.

• Apply appropriate clinical standards when evaluating behavioral health clinicians across disciplines, experience levels, and stages of their careers.

• Assess clinicians’ ability to manage complex cases, identify risk, exercise sound clinical judgment, and support the development of other clinicians where relevant to their role.

• Identify clinical strengths, concerns, and areas requiring additional assessment.

• Document interview findings thoroughly and promptly so recruiting decisions can move quickly.

• Partner with our Clinical Director to calibrate interviewing standards and maintain consistency across candidates.

• Partner with Clinical Talent Recruiters to maintain a fast, thoughtful, and high-quality candidate experience.

• Help develop and continuously improve clinical interview questions, case scenarios, scorecards, and hiring criteria.

• Analyze hiring and interview outcomes to identify opportunities to improve how we select clinicians.

• Support additional clinical talent assessment and quality initiatives as Third Space grows.

What We’re Looking For

• Active, unrestricted independent behavioral-health license in good standing in at least one U.S. state, such as LCSW, LICSW, LMHC, LPC, LPCC, LMFT, PsyD, PhD, or equivalent.

• 5+ years of post-licensure behavioral-health clinical experience.

• Strong clinical judgment across diagnosis, treatment planning, evidence-based care, risk assessment, ethics, and professional boundaries.

• Experience supervising, training, interviewing, mentoring, or evaluating other clinicians.

• Ability to quickly distinguish between someone who interviews well and someone who demonstrates strong clinical judgment.

• Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.

• Ability to make clear decisions while remaining objective and consistent.

• Strong written communication and ability to document the reasoning behind hiring recommendations.

• Comfort conducting multiple video interviews each day while remaining engaged and thoughtful with every candidate.

• Strong understanding of culturally responsive and patient-centered behavioral health care.

• Comfort working in a fast-growing environment where hiring volume and priorities can change quickly.

Strongly preferred:

• Previous experience as a Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Manager, Clinical Quality Specialist, or Clinical Training Lead.

• Experience interviewing or hiring behavioral health clinicians.

• Experience working with early career clinicians.

• Experience in Medicaid, community mental health, safety-net healthcare, or other settings serving complex patient populations.

• Experience providing telehealth behavioral health services.

• Familiarity with multiple behavioral health disciplines, including social work, professional counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, and psychiatry.

• Experience developing structured clinical interview rubrics or competency assessments.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation

• Base Salary : $80,000–$100,000 annually based on experience

• Performance Incentives: 10% of base, tied to defined outcomes
