Highlights Electrical is seeking an experienced Shop Welder / Fabricator to join our in-house fabrication shop. This position supports our electrical and lighting operations through custom fabrication, repair, modification, and reproduction of specialty metal components.

Our shop fabricates and modifies/builds light poles, brackets, custom light fixtures, and related components, as well as reproduces obsolete or hard-to-find fixtures and parts.

Much of our work is custom or one-of-a-kind, so we are looking for someone who can work from drawings, measurements, sketches, or an existing part and determine how to build what is needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and TIG welding on custom fabrication projects
• Fabricate, modify, and repair light poles, brackets, fixtures, supports, and related components
• Reproduce obsolete or difficult-to-source fixtures and parts using an existing item as a pattern
• Measure, lay out, cut, drill, grind, fit, weld, and assemble materials
• Work from drawings, sketches, measurements, or existing samples
• Troubleshoot fabrication challenges and develop practical solutions
• Operate common shop fabrication equipment and hand/power tools
• Inspect completed work for accuracy, fit, and quality
• Maintain a clean and safe shop and follow company safety procedures

Qualifications

• Previous welding and metal fabrication experience required
• Proficient in MIG and TIG welding
• Stick welding experience preferred, but not required
• Strong measuring, layout, fitting, and fabrication skills
• Ability to work from drawings, sketches, measurements, or existing parts
• Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently on custom and one-off projects
• Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to follow written and verbal work instructions, drawings, safety requirements, and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
• Experience with lighting components, poles, fixtures, or similar fabrication is a plus

This position is ideal for a versatile shop fabricator who enjoys custom work, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and building things that may not be available off the shelf.

We are looking for someone who can be handed an existing fixture or component and figure out how to repair it, modify it, or reproduce it.

The primary focus is custom metal fabrication supporting commercial and municipal electrical and lighting projects.
