About the Position

Job Title: RN Infection Preventionist Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Infection Prevention Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM Experience: Minimum 3-5 years as Infection Preventionist in an Acute Care Client. License: RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact Certifications: Certification in Infection Control required within 2 years Must-Have: - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Excellent teamwork and relationship building abilities - Knowledge of basic principles of epidemiology, surveillance, data collection, and analysis - Knowledge of Infection Prevention guidelines, OSHA, regulatory requirements, and CDC guidelines - Personal time management skills Description: The RN Infection Preventionist is a registered professional nurse who functions under the direction of the Infection Prevention Manager. Responsibilities include hospital surveillance to identify healthcare-related infections. Ensures public reporting for mandated healthcare-associated infections. Assists with developing policies and procedures. Provides education to patients and team members. Routinely audits and conducts rounds of facility departments to monitor Infection Prevention practices. Surveillance responsibilities include: Conducting surveillance for healthcare-associated infections and epidemiologically significant organisms. Utilizing current definitions and applying them consistently. Collecting, aggregating, and analyzing data. Ensuring accurate data input and running validation reports. Participating in the internal and external validation of data. Confirming and investigating potential clusters and outbreaks. Participating in environment of care rounds and overseeing corrective actions related to Infection Prevention. Facilitating activities to ensure compliance with hand hygiene and isolation protocols. Reporting and communication responsibilities include: Maintaining confidentiality and compliance with regulations. Keeping accurate surveillance records and entering data into repositories. Reporting diseases to public health authorities as required by law. Submitting internal and external data according to established deadlines. Analyzing information for appropriate dissemination. Education responsibilities involve: Developing and delivering staff education programs. Providing patient and family education related to infection prevention practices. Assisting in the orientation of hospital team members. Leadership responsibilities include: Collaborating with management to review and implement system policies and procedures. Utilizing resources to address organizational needs. Maintaining regulatory and accreditation compliance. Collaborating with Employee Health regarding healthcare worker exposure and illness prevention. Assisting in annual risk assessments and goal developments. Contributing to the evaluation of new products. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all established policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
