Position Overview


This is a combination of labor and public relations work. Employee is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Park. Employee is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various items of equipment including minor repair and maintenance. Work is semi-skilled conforming to the detailed instructions of the Park Manager, with periodic inspections. Employee works with relative independence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

(All duties listed may not be included in any one position nor does the list include all tasks found in a position of this class.)

• Employee must be neat in appearance and have the ability to meet and greet the public, as well as answer questions and give direction to park visitors.
• Employee will empty trash, clean and stock restrooms, buildings and park area.
• Cut grass and other associated work.
• Perform carpentry, plumbing and other maintenance work.
• Make reservations, collect money for donations/fishing permits, and issue receipts.
• Perform all other duties as directed by the Park Manager.

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.

• Must have the ability to meet and deal effectively with the general public.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in different situations which may arise.
• Must be in good physical condition.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions with relative independence.

Physical Requirements

• Must have the physical ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, lift up to 50 lbs.
• Perform strenuous manual labor in adverse weather conditions.
• Applicant must pass a physical exam and drug test.

Certifications or Licenses Required

• Must have a valid driver's license, and a safe driving history.

Work Schedule

• 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
• Monday - Friday
• Must be available evenings and weekends for occasional call-ins

LGHIP manages dental costs and provides enhanced dental benefits using negotiated discounts with in-network dentists. Life Insurance: Madison County provides $25,000 in life, $25,000 in accidental death and dismemberment and $25,000 line of duty insurance to eligible employees in certified positions.

Employee Retirement Plans : Employees are required to participate in the Employees Retirement System, which is a Defined Benefit Plan administered through the Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA). Participants contribute 5% to 8.5% of their earnings depending on their hire date and classification. Sworn Certified Personnel have an accelerated contribution schedule

Employee Clinic: Madison County employees and dependents over age 12 may use the Employee Health Clinic for the low co-pay of $15.00 per visit. To be eligible to use the clinic, the employee and dependent must be enrolled in Madison County's health insurance plan as their primary coverage.
