Excel Application Modernization Specialist

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, calculations, data validation, conditional formatting, workbook protection, and automation.

Experience converting or modernizing Excel-based tools into user-friendly applications or digital tools.

Ability to evaluate and compare commercial off-the-shelf software/application options using a defined selection matrix.

Strong understanding of user interface and user experience (UI/UX) principles, particularly for tools intended for public and non-technical users.

Experience designing automated calculators or decision-support tools with minimal manual data entry.
-
Ability to implement real-time data validation, error flagging, and clear user prompts.

Experience developing tools with protected formulas/calculations while allowing controlled user data entry.

Ability to create applications that are accessible across computers, tablets, and mobile devices without requiring specialized software.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for translating complex calculation logic into a reliable user-facing tool.

Experience testing and validating calculation-based applications using real-world sample datasets.

Ability to document application functionality, calculations, testing results, and user instructions clearly.

Ability to develop tools that can be maintained, updated, and customized by non-technical staff.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work with subject-matter experts to understand and translate technical requirements.
