Registered Nurse - Surgical

Schedule: Days, M-TH, 36 hrs/week, 9 hrs/Day

Assignment Details:

• Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Contract Weeks: 13

Requirements:

• Active RN license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire
• Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with an Associate, Diploma, or BSN Degree
• Multiple years of surgical experience (preferred)
• Basic computer skills to navigate Microsoft Windows-based programs

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care across all age groups, addressing psychosocial, physical, and treatment aspects related to the surgical environment.
• Communicate effectively with surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Prepare patients for surgery and educate them and their families on pain management and post-operative care.
• Maintain surgical equipment, ensure operating room readiness, and assist with inventory management.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and meet documentation standards.
• Ensure adherence to sterile techniques during procedures and manage specimen handling according to policy.
• Provide thorough handoff report to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) nurse regarding patient condition.

Compliance / Notes:

Must be available for scheduled call for emergency surgical services.
