The impact you'll make

Join Lam as a Manufacturing Engineer where you'll play a crucial role in supporting the new product pilot production factory, virtual manufacturing, or high-volume manufacturing production factory. Using your knowledge of technology and engineering principles you'll oversee the planning, development, and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes, and operations. You'll tackle technical, quality, and production challenges. Your expertise optimizing manufacturing costs and standards will help shape Lam's commitment to innovation and efficiency in manufacturing.

In this role, you'll directly contribute to the release of the next generation of Lam's Dielectric Etch (Flex and Vantex), Selective Etch (Argos, Aether, Selis, Prevos, and Kyber), and Field Service automation tools (Dextro).


What you'll do

• Troubleshoot new or existing product problems, involving designs, materials, or processes.
• Design, develop, and implement safe and cost-effective complex equipment and methods of assembly for all phases of manufacturing.
• Define processes and methods for high volume manufacturing which includes operations method sheet, routing, and sequencing.
• Perform virtual build and create sequence of assembly.
• Perform root cause investigation and recommend corrective action for operational problems, such as material use variances, bottlenecks, fixture issues during build or manufacturing process.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes or resolve problems and follow through resolution to reduce costs, improve product quality, and cycle time.
• Review and develop designs that improve product manufacturability and assembly.
• Coordinate new product builds in pilot production manufacturing partnering closely with manufacturing and product engineers.
• Create and release engineering drawings & bill of materials (BOM) using Engineering Change Management process.
• Development of handoff package to allow product transition to high volume manufacturing.

Who we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field with 2+ years of experience; or advanced degree with no previous professional experience; or equivalent experience.
• Skilled troubleshooting capabilities in the areas of electro/mechanical assemblies.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Proficient in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) with approach to structured problem-solving and decision-making.
• Proficient in software applications such as CAD modeling, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), or Product Data Modeling (PDM) systems.
• Experience in Engineering Change Management Process.
• Working knowledge in Operation Method Sheets (OMS), process planning, and Bill of Materials (BOM) Management.
• This is a graduate eligible role.

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of Semiconductor equipment, Capital Equipment industry and its manufacturing processes.
• Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in English.
• Statistical analysis skills including statistical process control and data analysis used in production setting.
• Knowledge in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA).
• Experience with virtual manufacturing and assembly.
• Proven stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders or customers in technical matters.
• Hands-on, professional or hobbyist-level experience with any of the following skills:
  • 3D printing/additive manufacturing
  • Automotive service or repair
  • Programming
  • Robotics/mechatronics
  • Machine shop skills
  • Construction
  • Woodworking

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $73,000.00 - $159,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
