Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

We work with the Department of War to provide the high-speed capabilities our nation and its allies need to maintain a durable, asymmetric advantage.About The Role:The Quality & Reliability Team at Hermeus are truly embedded, supporting the full vehicle lifecycle of the aircraft we design, build, and fly. We have a vast array of experiences ranging from quality management systems (QMS), special processes, metrology, supplier development, inspection, and beyond. We are a lean team working together with manufacturing in building vehicles that will fly. We provide crucial design feedback to our engineering team and can rapidly iterate with design and assembly.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for delivering Hermeus Quality support for Supply Chain, including closely partnering with key stakeholders from Engineering, Manufacturing, Subcontract Management, Program Management, and various suppliers. You will travel (~50%) to supplier sites to facilitate development activities & remedial actions, and conduct supplier audits as required. You will provide Quality support to the Supply Chain team for the qualification and ASL-onboarding of new suppliers. You will support inspection of components to internal and industry standards to determine part conformity and driving the Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process where necessary via Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) when a nonconformance is found. You will perform documentation review and verification of supplier certifications, specifications, and conformance to design requirements, as required or when escalated by the Incoming Inspection team. You will approve or reject items and documents based on inspection results as required You will communicate with internal customers and suppliers to resolve inspection discrepancies, documentation issues, and packaging damage You will use electronic MES/QMS system to document issues, route parts and components and workflows to proper individuals. You will support ongoing QMS development, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing initiatives – developing and documenting new processes when required. You will communicate and resolve roadblocks timely and accurately to ensure delivery and on-time receipt status – escalating to leadership when necessary. You will apply process improvement methodologies and tools to reduce supplier quality issues and increase production rates RequirementsBachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.5+ years of experience in aviation or aerospace manufacturing/quality environmentMinimum of 3 years in Supplier Quality or similar supplier-facing roles.Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, enthusiasm for the team’s spirit of innovation and mission of improving reliability in cutting-edge technologyStrong communication skills and ability to read and provide feedback on technical documents.Strong command of quality tools, i.e. RCCA, FMEA, 8D, SPC, etc.Ability to travel up to approximately 50% of the time.Will sometimes be working directly with the hardware on the floor and will have to be comfortable stooping, bending, lifting and standing.US-Person Status required.Preferred Skills and ExperienceExperience with low and high-volume manufacturing, design for manufacture and product development life cycle, or quality tools including root cause and corrective action, PFMEAs, QMS and process auditing and statistical analysis of quality metrics.Experience working with a broad range of suppliers, from metallic manufacturing techniques and equipment for processes such as CNC fabrication, welding (orbital tube and TIG), precision cleaning, forming, inspection, etc. to complex electronics.Demonstrated understanding of CAD and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Ability to commute to Atlanta, GA, or El Segundo, CA.Ability to attain security clearanceDesired Multipliers:Experience with AS9100 and NadcapExperience in a fast-paced startup development environmentExperience working in a flight development programExperience working with steels, Inconel, and titanium parts suppliers.Experience working with 3D printed parts, castings, or forgingsExperience working with complex electronics systems suppliersExperience transitioning parts from first article to production$120,000 - $150,000 a yearThe salary range listed for this role is intended as a general guideline.
