Experienced Welding Supervisor Wanted!

Looking for an experienced Welding Supervisor for an established and growing heavy steel manufacturing operation in the Milwaukee area.

We're looking for a strong, hands-on leader who understands welding and fabrication, knows how to manage production demands, and has the ability to lead, motivate, and develop multiple welding teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has worked their way up through welding and fabrication, understands the challenges of a busy shop floor, and enjoys leading people while keeping production moving.

What You'll Be Doing

Production & Operations

• Directly supervise and support Weld Leads and their respective welding and fabrication teams.
• Coordinate daily production activities to meet schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements.
• Monitor workflow, labor allocation, and departmental priorities to maximize efficiency and productivity.
• Collaborate with the Welding Manager on production planning, staffing strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify production bottlenecks, troubleshoot fabrication challenges, and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor departmental performance and address production, quality, and workforce concerns.

Welding Quality & Technical Oversight

• Oversee MIG welding and fabrication operations to maintain consistent quality standards.
• Conduct regular inspections of work in process to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, welding specifications, and customer requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and assist in troubleshooting welding and fabrication issues.
• Ensure welding personnel follow established welding procedures, quality requirements, and production specifications.
• Work with Weld Leads to identify opportunities to improve welding processes, productivity, and quality.

Leadership & Employee Development

• Train, coach, and develop Weld Leads and welding personnel to strengthen technical skills and overall performance.
• Establish clear expectations for safety, attendance, productivity, and workmanship.
• Support hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions in partnership with management and Human Resources.
• Communicate production priorities, operational updates, process changes, and company initiatives to welding teams.
• Build a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.

Safety & Documentation

• Ensure compliance with company safety policies, welding procedures, and workplace safety standards.
• Promote safe work practices and address potential safety concerns.
• Maintain accurate production, attendance, and quality documentation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen safety, efficiency, and overall department performance.

What You'll Bring to the Table

• Minimum of 6+ years of welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 2+ years of leadership experience supervising welders, Weld Leads, or shop floor personnel.
• Strong knowledge of MIG welding processes, fabrication methods, and weld quality standards.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, specifications, and production documentation.
• Experience leading multiple welding teams and balancing production priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Experience implementing and maintaining workplace safety programs and standards.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop employees.
• Ability to perform shop calculations and measurements to ensure compliance with engineering and customer specifications.
• Experience working with heavy-gauge steel fabrication preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing production reporting systems.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification strongly preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus!
• Must be detail-oriented, organized, and committed to producing high-quality work.
