About the Role

The Company is seeking a Founding Head of School to lead the establishment of a new classical independent school. This role is pivotal in shaping the institution's culture, assembling its team, and defining the systems, practices, and traditions that will endure for years. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the school's launch and early operation, including academics, faculty and staff recruitment, enrollment, operations, financial stewardship, and community engagement. The Head of School will work closely with the Board to ensure the school's academic program aligns with the principles of classical education and direct instruction, and will be expected to build a high-performing organizational culture that is committed to the Academy's mission. The ideal candidate will have a genuine commitment to the timeless ideals of wisdom, character, knowledge, and affordability, and an appreciation for the role of classical education in the development of young learners. They should be a seasoned leader with the entrepreneurial spirit and operational discipline to build a school from the ground up, and be able to move fluidly between strategic vision and practical execution. While prior classical school leadership experience is valuable, it is not essential; what is critical is the candidate's intellectual curiosity, philosophical alignment, and the ability to become deeply knowledgeable about classical pedagogy. The role demands a hands-on approach, the ability to make decisions with imperfect information, and a focus on long-term growth and sustainability.
