The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill 2 Nursing Assistant 3 positions, located at Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wisconsin. One position is 4:00 AM - 12:30 PM Monday through Friday. The second position is 6 12-hour days 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM, and 1 8-hour day 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM per two week period, with every other weekend rotation of 12 hour days.

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the assigned Nursing Supervisor, incumbent is responsible for assisting in the provision of health care and services to patients in the Infirmary at Dodge Correctional Institution (DCI). Duties include assisting Physical and Occupational Therapists, Nursing Staff and Advanced Care Providers with direct patient care, clerical functions and assigned duties in maintaining day-to-day functioning of twenty-four-hour infirmary operation.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 06-12 with a starting pay of $27.22/hour . Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Pay rates for individuals with prior state service shall be set in accordance with their full years of state service.

Pay is expected to progress with full years of state service:

0 Years of Service $27.22/hour

1 Year of Service $27.78/hour

2 Years of Service $28.35/hour

3 Years of Service $28.93/hour

5 Years of Service $29.49/hour

10 Years of Service $30.06/hour

15 Years of Service $30.63/hour

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

This position is not eligible for remote work.

This position includes physical requirements, including but not limited to: standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Applicants must possess by time of hire and maintain certification in CPR by the American Heart Association and training in the use of the AED and have the ability to perform CPR and/or first aid to prevent loss of life and relieve suffering until appropriate care arrives.

Applicants will be assessed on relevant experience, including the following:

• Using an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), performing CPR, and performing First Aid.
• Making accurate and complete observations and assessing patient status regarding changes in physical and mental condition of patients.
• Initiating action in emergency situations
• Being registered or eligible for registration as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of Wisconsin.
