The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, (the National Shrine) a Catholic church dedicated to the patroness of our nation, is a place of worship, pilgrimage, evangelization, and reconciliation. The Accounting Office is charged with providing faithful stewardship of the National Shrine’s resources.

The Senior Accountant supports the Comptroller in all functions and areas of the management of the Accounting Department, including assisting with the preparation of reviewing month-end and year-end draft financial statements and the investment summary & performance reports, and reviews (for accuracy and completeness) the daily/weekly/monthly transactions and related processes.

The Senior Accountant will take charge of the general ledger, ensuring its accuracy by reviewing the daily transaction of staff members, performing analysis and completing reconciliations; distribute monthly operating reports to the department heads; assist the Comptroller is the development of the annual budgets and annual audit deliverables.

This position is considered the number two position in the Accounting Office and will stand in for the Comptroller in his or her absence.

 

The desired qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, up to 2 years of general accounting experience, general competency in using Microsoft Excel, Word and other Office suite applications and any general ledger solution. Preferred experience includes experience with Sage Intacct.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with a high degree of emotional intelligence and a desire to learn. The candidate should be willing to work independently as well as part of a team.
