2026 CCI Research Fellowship Caribbean Cultural Institute

Summary The CCI Research Fellowship is intended for established and promising Caribbean researchers and scholars based in the Caribbean or its diaspora whose work advances the study of contemporary art of the region. The CCI encourages proposals that expand the scholarship on Caribbean artworks in PAMM’s collection but also welcomes research projects that shed light on other aspects of Caribbean art and cultural production from an interdisciplinary perspective. The CCI Research Fellowship follows a hybrid format combining in-person and remote participation and must be completed within four months. The program provides fellows with the opportunity to engage in archival research at FIU and/or other local collections and repositories; to view Caribbean works in PAMM’s collection as well as other local collections (as applicable); to network with local artists, art professionals, and scholars; and to collaborate with Green Space Miami and actively engage with the academic community at FIU-LACC. As part of the program, the CCI will cover travel expenses and accommodations in Miami for a two-week residency period, provide a research stipend, and cover research-related expenses up to $1,000. The CCI Research Fellow is expected to produce an essay that will be published on the CCI website and in FIU-LACC publications, as appropriate.
