We are looking for an experienced Medical Insurance Benefits Verification Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage and benefits, communicating with insurance carriers, and ensuring accurate insurance information is entered into our EMR system.  The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working directly with insurance companies. You should be able to work independently, manage multiple verification requests, and ensure insurance information is accurate before services are provided.

Responsibilities

Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments and procedures.

• Contact insurance carriers by phone to obtain benefit and coverage information.

• Log into insurance carrier portals to verify eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and other insurance information.

• Upload copies of patient insurance cards and supporting documentation into the EMR.

• Accurately enter and update insurance information in the EMR system.

• Review insurance information for accuracy and identify missing or incorrect information.

• Document verification results and insurance communication.

• Follow up with insurance carriers when additional information is needed.

• Communicate with the clinical and billing teams regarding insurance coverage and benefit issues.

• Maintain accurate and timely insurance records.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of medical insurance verification experience required.
  
  
• Experience working with insurance carrier websites and portals.

• Experience verifying eligibility and benefits for medical patients.

• EMR experience required.

• Strong computer and data-entry skills.

• Ability to accurately enter and maintain patient insurance information.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to communicate professionally with insurance carriers and patients.

• Must be able to work in the office .

Preferred Qualifications

• AdvancedMD EMR experience is a plus
