Certified Medical Assistant 1 Float handles patient healthcare under professionals' guidance. Tasks include record-keeping, medication administration, injections, and vital sign documentation. Provide valuable support for smooth patient care.

Essential functions of the role include:

• Acting as a versatile resource for various clinics within a designated, local area.
• Being involved in patient examination and treatment under the guidance of a physician.
• Keeping treatment rooms ready for patient examination, ensuring their cleanliness after procedures and maintaining supplies.
• Ensuring the comfort of patients by assisting and accompanying them from waiting room to examination room.
• Interviewing patients and recording information in their medical records. Collecting medical data to help physicians assess patient health and needs.
• Being responsible for readying all necessary documents and forms for each office visit.
• Checking patient vital signs before exams, tests, procedures, and x-rays. This includes pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height.
• Routine patient testing is required. Acquiring and processing electrocardiograms is part of the job. Collecting and processing blood and urine samples is also necessary.
• Administering oral, rectal meds, vaccines as directed. Reporting any adverse reactions promptly.
• Additional duties will include the removal of sutures and staples and the changing of sterile and non-sterile dressings as required.

Key success factors include:

• Being open to frequent travel to different clinics within a specified, local region to perform assigned tasks.
• Earning a medical assistant certification from an approved program, like American Association of Medical Assistants or American Medical Technologists.
• Being well-versed in the critical values of secure and accurate medical administration.
• Understanding the fundamentals of "five rights" - right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, right time.
• Recording patient info following policies, regulations, and procedures. Familiar with HIPAA guidelines.
• Observing patients' physical condition and promptly reporting any abnormalities to medical personnel.
• Being capable of administering injections and drawing blood.
• Being adept at medical terminologies.
• Having excellent interpersonal skills that make patients feel comfortable. Coming across as friendly, reassuring, and approachable.
• Being comfortable taking instructions from doctors.
• Being accustomed to handling medical charts and records.
• Displaying high regard for detail.

Qualifications:

• Education: H.S. Diploma or GED Equivalent
• Experience: Less than (1) one year of experience.

Certification/License/Registration:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain within (30) thirty days of hire or transfer.
• Cert Medical Assistant (CMA): Must be CMA from one listed
• Nat Cert Med Asst (NCMA) from NCCT
• Cert Medical Asst (CMA) from AAMA or ARMA
• Cert Cln Med Asst (CCMA) from NHA
• Reg Med Asst (RMA) from AMT, AAMP or AAH
• Nat Reg Cert Med Asst (NRCMA) from NAHP
• Cln Med Asst Cert (CMAC) from AMCA.
