About Luckie’s Pinestraw Luckie’s Pinestraw serves residential, commercial, and contractor customers with pine straw, mulch, delivery, installation, and related landscape-material services. The company came under new ownership in April 2025 and is being led by an experienced business owner focused on building strong local operations while expanding both corporate-owned and franchise opportunities across multiple states. Position Overview The Crew Leader is the primary on-site manager responsible for leading field execution, maintaining Luckie’s Pinestraw high-quality standards, ensuring crew safety, managing accurate product loadouts, delivering exceptional customer communication, and executing end-of-day security and financial turn-in protocols. This is a hands-on field leadership position. The Crew Leader guides daily operations on job sites, manages route and load plans, operates box trucks and specialized equipment, collects customer payments, and ensures every installation or delivery is completed to standard. Key Responsibilities 1. Crew Management & Leadership Direct, mentor, and supervise crew members on job sites to ensure all installation and delivery work meets Luckie’s Pinestraw quality standards. Maintain a safe, efficient, professional, and positive work environment for the crew. Delegate daily tasks effectively to optimize completion time, site efficiency, and material handling. 2. Route & Load Planning Review daily route assignments and job details prior to departure. Determine and execute optimal truck load plans to move materials efficiently and minimize transit delays. Perform daily pre-trip vehicle assessments, including checking engine oil levels before starting the box truck. Verify truck inventory, tools (e.g., stay-put, trench and tuck equipment), and materials (bales, rolls, mulch) before departing the lot. 3. Customer & Operational Communication Use Arrivy as the primary software for routine job status updates and real-time tracking during standard operations. Send pre-arrival contacts to customers with estimated arrival times (ETAs) via Arrivy and phone call/text. Use the daily text thread or phone calls for operational exceptions, such as contacting the main office if a customer cannot be reached, clarifying payment details, or discussing complex schedule/time adjustments. Review the scope of work with the customer on-site, perform a final walk-through upon completion, and ensure total customer satisfaction. 4. Payment Collection & Verification Collect and secure payment (cash, check, or credit card) upon job completion for both installations and deliveries. Communicate credit card (CC) payment handoffs via status updates in Arrivy. Ensure strict payment confirmation or approval on deliveries before leaving the job site or moving to the next stop. 5. Vehicle, Equipment & Site Security Keep box truck cabs and boxes clean, organized, and free of trash or debris. Maintain and secure specialized installation tools and equipment. Ensure customer property is swept clean of loose straw and debris before departing. Secure box trucks at the end of the shift by locking all four cab doors and the rear box. 6. End-of-Shift & Turn-In Protocols Turn in truck keys and customer payments (cash/checks) directly to the Lot Manager during business hours (before 4:30 PM Monday–Friday / 2:00 PM Saturday). Follow after-hours turn-in procedures when returning after closing. Send a clock-out text message to the management/group thread listing all crew members on shift and specifying the exact shift end time. For example, if work ended at 4:45 PM but the text is sent at 5:15 PM, specify the actual 4:45 PM completion time. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to repeatedly lift, carry, move, and load pine straw bales (approximately 10–15 lbs each) and pine straw rolls (approximately 30–40 lbs each) throughout the workday. Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and perform physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to safely operate box trucks, access equipment, and use specialized tools such as stay-put and trench-and-tuck equipment. Protective Equipment: Luckie’s Pinestraw provides work gloves for employees. Additional personal protective gear, such as masks, respirators, or safety glasses, is welcomed based on individual preference, though not strictly required or mandated. What We Are Looking For Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record and comfortable driving a box truck. Proven leadership skills, strong work ethic, and ability to manage a team on-site. Strong communication skills and comfort using smartphone apps, including Arrivy, and text threads for operational updates. Responsible and honest with payment handling, including cash, checks, and credit card processing. Detail-oriented regarding work quality, site cleanup, vehicle maintenance, and property security. Saturday availability as part of operating a six-day-per-week operation. Compensation & Time Off Compensation: $18.00–$22.50 per hour depending on experience and leadership background. Paid weekly on Thursdays. Benefits / Paid Time Off: After completing a 90-day introductory period, full-time employees are eligible for one week of paid vacation during their first calendar year.
