Special Education Teacher | Portage, Indiana

Step into a rewarding opportunity as a High School Special Education (SPED) Teacher in Portage, IN, supporting students in grades 9-12 throughout the upcoming school year. This full-time school-based position offers the opportunity to provide specialized instruction, individualized academic support, and meaningful guidance to high school students with diverse learning needs. Your dedication, teaching expertise, and commitment to student success will help create an inclusive learning environment where students can build confidence and reach their educational goals. Candidates with an active Indiana Teaching License and a passion for special education are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

-Active Indiana Teaching License required

-Special Education credentials/certification required

-Experience working with high school students preferred

-Experience supporting students with special education needs is highly valued

-Strong classroom management and instructional skills

-Excellent communication and collaboration skills

-Compassionate, patient, adaptable, and student-focused approach

Schedule:

-Full-time position for the school year

-5 days per week

-37.5 hours per week

-Grade levels: 9th-12th

-Location: Portage, Indiana

Responsibilities:

-Provide specialized instruction and academic support to students in grades 9-12

-Develop and implement instruction aligned with students’ individualized learning needs

-Support students in achieving academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals

-Implement accommodations and modifications as appropriate

-Monitor student progress and maintain accurate educational documentation

-Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, families, and related service providers

-Create a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment

-Encourage student independence, confidence, and preparation for post-secondary opportunities
